Dacey named player of the month

CARDIFF Blues youngster Kristian Dacey has been named the Principality Premiership player of the month for February after starring for Pontypridd.

The 21-year-old hooker has scored six tries for Ponty this season, and he came off the bench for the Blues in their 16-15 defeat to Munster on Friday.

The accolade represents an impressive turnaround for Dacey, who only switched from No 8 to the front row a year ago.

Pontypridd power past Cardiff

Pontypridd re-established their four point lead at the top of the Principality Premiership with a hard-fought 20-6 victory at Cardiff.

Title rivals Neath had joined the Valley Commandos on 84 points following their victory at Cross Keys the previous evening, but a supreme effort from the Ponty pack helped lay the foundations for a sixth consecutive league win.

Dale “The Chief” McIntosh was a player respected and feared in equal measure during his days as a rampaging number eight for Pontypridd.

 

After retiring and becoming a coach, McIntosh is still as physically imposing as he was in his pomp at Sardis Road.
